Camarillo Pride

Our Committee Members

The following people make up the core organizing committee for Camarillo Pride.

Leandra Hart-Thomas

Leandra Hart-Thomas (She/Her) is an activist and staunch supporter of the LGBTQIA+ Community in Camarillo, Ventura County, and beyond. After coming out in 2018, Leandra is passionate about being a safe space and resource for others who are still finding the courage to be their authentic selves.   Together with her wife Dana, and their four incredible children, Leandra is focused on ensuring all children can grow, thrive, and be accepted in Camarillo. With Leandra's grit, determination, and total commitment to making Camarillo a safer and more welcoming place for her family, Leandra has been a tour-de-force in bringing Camarillo Pride to life!

Michelle Burns

Michelle Burns (She/Her) is an activist, educator, and stalwart ally of the LGBTQIA+ Community, especially in Camarillo. As an education professional for over 20 years, Michelle knows the importance of sharing knowledge and the positive power of community. She wants to facilitate activities and events where people feel safe, seen, and accepted. As a wife of over 20 years and the mother of three beautiful children, she wants to ensure Camarillo treats all people and their families with dignity, acceptance, and respect.

Dana Thomas

Dana Thomas (She/Her) is a wife, mother of four (adopted and biological), foster parent, learning professional, project manager extraordinaire and, coincidentally, a lesbian. Dana believes families of all types should be celebrated and no child should go unsupported in embracing who they truly are. An avid camper, Dana can often be found in local campgrounds appreciating the beauty of nature, looking for fairy houses, or poking at a campfire. Dana wants to ensure all LGBTQIA+ children, parents, families and people are welcomed as the important members of Camarillo society that they are!

Catherine Burriss

Catherine Burriss (She/Her) is a queer mom raising two wonderful kids, one of whom is non-binary, with her amazing wife, Elaine, in Camarillo. A professor, scholar, and performing artist, she has been nurturing Theatre and Performing Arts at CSU Channel Islands since she joined the faculty in 2006, and recently launched a new Theatre and Performance Studies B.A. degree focused on empowering students to use their voices physically and metaphorically on stage, on screen, and out in their communities. She is a long-time advocate for LGBTQIA+ human rights and for equity-minded and evidence-based practices in education, health, and broader society. Catherine feels immense gratitude for the thoughtful and hard-working leaders of Camarillo Pride and has been an active volunteer since the first Camarillo Pride in 2022!

Ashley Naves

Ashley (She/Her) is a Camarillo native. She enjoys hiking, going to the beach with her family and dogs, writing and drawing, and learning about new things and people. She is passionate about advocacy work, the environment, and animals. Ashley loves music, comedy, checking out new museums, and trying new restaurants. She tries to live a compassionate and sustainable lifestyle that encourages empathy and kindness. Ashley answered a blind call for First Aid help at Camarillo Pride 2023, and she's back for more, volunteering her time, medical skills, and infectious positivity to make Camarillo Pride 2024 an even better event!

Carole Dumas

Carole Dumas (She/Her) is a steadfast ally of the LGBTQIA+ community. She volunteers her time with Camarillo Pride in hopes of a more inclusive community for everyone. As a wife and mother of two children, she raises them to choose kindness whenever possible.

Dona Stone-Fuller

Dona Stone-Fuller (She/Her) is a business woman, community activist, wife, Mom, and ally who has devoted much of her time to helping host more safe spaces in Camarillo for members of the LGBTQIA+ community. She immediately volunteered her time, help, and extensive skills starting in the first year of Camarillo Pride, and with her assistance, Camarillo Pride was able to earn enough funds to continue hosting an event in 2023 and 2024. She has extensive experience working on Youth Organization Boards and Planning Committees, as well as a passion for being of service to our local LGBTQIA+ community.

Jayme Hofteig

Jayme Hoftieg (She/Her) is an entrepreneur, non-profit advocate, activist, and community supporter. Jayme volunteers with Camarillo Pride to help build a strong, safe, and loving community. Her passion is in finding ways to be a resource to families that may need support within the LGBTQIA+ community.
